Within Space Is Only Noise That You Can See Sculpture Series, the visual inquiry of landscapes are pursued with the intention of augmenting the euphoric feelings found in the paintings. With the use of neon and plastic within the pieces, they literally shed light on the issue of the plastic problem while being embedded into the euphoric identity of landscapes. The metal netting resembles our limits to fully being within a landscape, signifying the difficulty in having a connection between humanity and the intellectual persona that is embedded into the landscapes of light.
Neon, which has been used in a multitude of urban landscapes in store windows, are now front and center within these pieces. These lights are recessed and positioned at a point where it shows just the lights reverberation around the silhouettes of the landscapes I am creating.
In some of these sculptures, the viewer can manipulate the density and speed of the light signifying the density of nature’s aura they can have within their grasp. When we want to be in nature, we choose to be close to nature. But we choose our level of involvement with the natural and how far that emotional/intellectual connection goes within our own lives. These neon sculptures reflect this sentiment.
