Combining his life long love of hand tying flys for fishing and his innovative style in the contemporary art world, Lopez shows a breath of detail and concept in his latest artistic makings. Combining the fishing tradition of his Cuban heritage and merging it with psychology including the idea of people as lures, Lopez shows the balance and beautiful construction of oversized fly hooks and lures submerged. Represented by PHS Projects :: La Paz, a collective of three international galleries, Lopez looks to catch art lovers and critics attention with this innovative series. Learn more about this artist and his series through a brief documentary made in October 2014 entitled “The Conceptual Fly" here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f57B7z64H04 ABOUT THE HOOK SERIES The catch is very temporary it is the lure that we are really attracted to because if you do have a solid lure it will keep reproducing quality catches. We neglect the lure since we continuously consciously pay attention to the catch but subconsciously it is the lure that we true love. Its only when the lure or people begin to fail us that we begin to pay attention, very rarely do we show our appreciation and love for the those that have landed us the large catch or position that we so desperately yearn to have or be in. -PEL Fishing is perceived as masculine, yet sewing is perceived as feminine. Fly Fishing is the beautiful appreciation of both with nature involved. This is the body of work that I make with integrity. -PEL ABOUT FELIPE LOPEZ Felipe Lopez is a Multi-Dimensional self-taught visual artist, mentored by Diana Muniz.
